 HORRIBLY SLOW!!!!Apr 05, 2010
This thing is BAD! I think this model is discontinued, it is so incredibly slow to do anything that I really want to rip my hair out or throw it agaisnt the wall. All things are painfully slow, starting programs, clicking the start menu, loading web pages. I am in shock with the amount of positive reviews for this netbook! My Netbook is brand new, haven't installed anything fancy or tried to do anything besides go online, and the subsequently check all the settings on the computer.
DO NOT BUY THIS NETBOOK!!!!!!!

Absolutely wonderful laptop, not only for travel but is so easy to move around the house with the laptop opened that you take it everywhere around the house. The built in camera and wireless internet connection are outstanding, nothing else to buy or attach like most laptops. 1.0 gygs of ROM is sufficient enough for any reasons you want to use it for. Of course, if you try to compare it with the 4.0 gygs laptops is an unfair deal, but at the same time you ain't paying 2 thousand plus dollars. The Eee 900 is way much faster than my old Dell and that makes me happy. My two kids are using it for everything, including video conferences with their friends, and you have to see them how they carry it opened in one hand. Absolutely wonderful... Homework is another fun thing to do now....

I use my ASUS on my dressing table in place of my radio and in lieu of a tv. For the 30 minutes that I put myself together in the mornings it is the perfect accompaniment - I listen to the radio program of my choice. Also a perfect fit in my suitcase for pleasure travel. Great little computer, no problems.

I got this a few weeks ago and it is really nice. The HD sound is great with headphones but not with the tiny little built in speakers. It will find any unsecured network right out of the box and go right on-line. It took me a while to figure out how to disable it. I loaded it with my MP3s and even put a little thumb drive with it to save documents. So far I have spent more time than I would like updating the software, but I have to have security. It fits right into a purse. I just wish it would continue to play the music when I close it, but it doesn't. The keyboard takes a little patience to get familiar with it, but it is easy for small hands. The start-up homepage is the Eee PC site, where you can sign up and upload some of your files. I haven't tried this, maybe I will. I like the small 16G SS drive, because I only put on it what I will be using for a while. I have learned over the years that backing up and maintaining very large drives takes a lot of time. When something gets lost, broken or stolen, I don't want hundreds of hours of my work on the thing. Not bad for the price. I am very pleased.

for the purpose intended, with the speed and functionality of this machine, i cannot understand why anyone would travel with any other PC. even tougher applications like modest cad do not suffer compared to a full laptop when on-the-road. the loss of a huge hard-drive that cannot take the mechanical shock of travel is no loss at all, and helps piece of mind knowing that a small bump will not likely be catastrophic. dragging it out for airport security is much less a chore.
i loved it but my wife hated it because of the small screen and keys, but she is a home user. we returned one but i joyously kept the second of the two we purchased.
