Very satisfied.Jul 25, 2010 I was very satisfied with this recent purchase. The camera was in even better condition than I had imagined. The entire transaction went extremely smoothly.
this is an afterthought reviewJun 19, 2010 I returned this product because of shutter lag & not really enough zoom for me. The seller was more than helpful & accomodating. I bought a Canon SX210IS. It has just as much shutter lag. At any zoom over 10x you need a tripod - which is difficult on any trip moving with a group. BUT MOST important is the lack of viewfinder!! It is dramatic how many photos are out of focus for lack of ability to steady camera against one's head. etc etc

overpriced hardware failureMay 15, 2010 * The first thing I noticed when I got this camera is that it would not hold a date. The button battery compartment and holder are poorly designed such that the battery does not stay touching the contacts. I managed a work-around by folding a small piece of paper 2 times and placing it between the battery and the holder.
* The auto-focus is very poor, and due to the small screen size, many times I could not tell a shot was out of focus until I viewed it on my computer at home.
* Flash recharge takes FOREVER.
* Battery level indicator will tell you that the batteries are low only a few shots before it shuts-down.
* DO NOT USE A POWER CORD WITH THIS CAMERA! I used a power cord, and the camera decided that all batteries from that point forward were not good enough. Brand-new alkaline batteries with 1.8V on each were deemed insufficient by the camera, which insisted "change the batteries." No matter what batteries I put in, I got that error. I became tied to the power cord.
Excellent Balance of Camera CapabilitiesApr 14, 2010 The Canon PowerShot A720IS is an excellent camera. It has more advanced capability than a simple point and shoot, but is very easy to use. The optical image stabilization is an important feature. I find it very useful to have a view finder because often in bright sun it is very difficult to view the screen on any camera. Canon makes a great product. They should offer more in this size/price range with a view finder. I highly recommend the A720IS.
Great productMar 09, 2010 I have been using this product for almost 2 years now. As for amateurs it is great. It does everything it specifies.
The only think I do not appreciate is the digital zoom. It is not perfect but works if you really need it. The battery last long as long as you choose a good one (like Sanyo Eneloop).
5 (amateur) Stars for this product.
