Don't Love It!Jun 07, 2010
Based on the BRAND NEW, not previously owned, or refurbished HP Pavilion DV9700 that I bought, I would not buy a refurbished one. I have had numerous problems with mine.
One day it just shut off and I couldn't get it to start again for months. I called customer support and they did not help. I would turn it on and it would sound like it was going to start the power button would light up for a minute and then it would shut off. Sometimes it would start but the monitor would not work. Now it only starts if I hold down the Escape key after I hit the power button. If I close the laptop, it's hard telling when and if it might start again. The USB ports only work on the left side of my laptop, after about a year the right side stopped working. It gets extremely hot, you really need to have a cooling fan underneath it. One of the hinges to the monitor has over time broke, now if my laptop gets closed the monitor literally comes apart.
Basically I am not impressed with the brand new model and would not consider buying a refurbished model. I do however own an HP Netbook that I have not had any problems with.
