 Watch for Splitting Hinge!May 04, 2009
I have loved this computer, which I have had for 12 months. Two weeks ago the left hinge, which had previously started splitting apart, snapped out and the side of the monitor started splitting open. It's not a pretty sight. You would hope the plastic hinge case would last for more than a year.....Jury's still out on whether my extended warranty (from another retailer) will cover it. The other retailer is asking Toshiba to decide....

Wished that the speakers were as good as A305 seriesDec 14, 2008
While it's nice that this laptop is lighter and uses less power than its sibling the A305, I feel that the A305 has much richer sound that the M305. Would be nice if they increased the speaker size in their next iteration of the M305.

 Be prepared to buy a new battery real soonOct 21, 2008
I've bought two Satellite laptops, and both have had their batteries fail within two years. One of them won't keep a charge for more than a few minutes, and sometimes powers off when you disconnect the AC power; the other sometimes just shuts down at the slightest movement. When we called the tech support, they didn't mention that the batteries were subject to recall; now I just found out, and Toshiba won't process the recall. I don't know if the problems are battery related, since it'll cost $500 to have Toshiba diagnose the problem. That's right, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS once it's out of warranty.
The screen on the newer laptop - just two years old - has gone funky, with some horizontal lines.
They both run somewhat warm, with the fan going nonstop.
As you can tell, these are my last Toshiba laptop purchases. It's great value for the first year, so enjoy!

Nice LaptopAug 15, 2008
When I received this Laptop it didnt turn on!!!! I had to send it to the Toshiba technical center!! =(. The problem was the DVD drive.
At last I have it with me and its a cool Laptop. Nice look.
The only problem is that it comes with Windows Vista, which consumes 1gbRam without doind anything. But the processor is cool and the 3 gbram too.
The Integrated X3100 Graphic Card does well with 3D games such as Need For Speed Most Wanted or some regular 3D games. If you want to play Crysis with all the details ON...this is not your laptop.
Finally, it is a good laptop for studying, working, and moving from one place to another. A bit smaller than normal 14.1" laptops.
